Dynamic port architectureThe NVISION 5256 machine control router provides versatile interconnection for remote devices that communicate using bi-directional SMPTE 207M, RS-422 or RS-232 data. Its flexible design, compact size, and low power requirements offer substantial benefits to users with a large number of machines and machine control devices.
The router is easily configured, and this is especially helpful when setting up complex production, editing or dubbing sessions. With the NVISION range's patented dynamic port architecture, every router port can be configured from the control panel to work in a master or slave mode. This allows tape machines to control each other for edits or duplication work.
Dubbing from one machine to many is simplified by internal control software, which establishes the response connection from the first connected machine, and then routes command data only to subsequent record machines.
Scalable, fault tolerant designThe NVISION 5256 provides 256 ports of data routing in an 8RU frame, with linear expansion to 512 ports using two frames. The router can be built out in blocks of 16 ports up to the maximum of 512 ports, without impacting the completely non-blocking architecture.
The linear expansion of the router is achieved using a simple TDM bus, without a requirement for any additional external equipment. This linear expandability eliminates costly, space consuming external input distribution fan-outs and output secondary switching altogether. It also removes the inherent termination problems of external passive splitters and combiners. The end result is greater system signal integrity, with fewer signal errors and bigger loss budgets. High density packaging also maximizes available rack space, and simplifies systems engineering.
An optional redundant expansion module is available to provide the highest level of long term reliability. The optional BP2-Port-64 break-out panel allows easy conversion between DB-9 and RJ45 connectors.
The machine control router is designed for reliability, fault tolerance and redundancy. All input and output modules, power supplies, controllers, and fans are front accessible and hot-swappable. No rear cables need to be removed for servicing or maintenance, and power supplies are fully redundant with continuous load sharing between supplies.
Powerful router control Designed to grow with your needs, the NVISION router control system offers a full complement of user interface options, along with full redundancy, and an easy-to-use Java based configuration editor. The remote control panels include highly configurable hardware and virtual control panels. They provide all the features, functions and redundancy essential to address a broad range of applications, from the smallest television station to the largest uplink and origination centers.
